ABOUT IC SENTINEL®:
IC Sentinel® is a real-time environmental quality monitoring solution, comprised of facility-wide, low-cost, compact, multi-sensor modules.

MONITORING DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE
The differential pressure sensor within the IC Sentinel® sensor unit is designed to measure the pressure differential between the ambient pressure in the room in which the sensor is installed (the reference location) and an adjacent room or hallway (the external location). Both positive and negative pressure differentials can be measured. Pressure is displayed as Pascal (Pa), with a full scale of +/- 24.9 Pa.
Since both positive and negative differential pressure can be measured, be certain to observe the polarity of the measurement. Some rooms are configured to be positively pressurized (the room pressure is greater than the adjacent room or hallway), or negatively pressurized (the room pressure is less than the adjacent room or hallway).
The reference port is inside the IC Sentinel® sensor unit, and not user accessible. The measured external port is found on the rear panel. A quick disconnect fitting is used to simply this connection. Route the tubing from IC Sentinel® to the adjacent room or hallway. Various static probes and wall plates are available to complete this connection.
The differential pressure sensor is a precision device, capable of measuring very small pressure differentials. The zero pressure point is factory calibrated, however changes in IC Sentinel® physical installations may cause small shifts in this zero pressure calibration. If desired, the IC Sentinel® software allows the user to re-zero this zero pressure state. If this option is exercised, be very careful to ensure that the IC Sentinel® unit is stationary, and in its final mounting position, with the external port disconnected, and with little or no airflow over or around this port. The factory default calibration can be retrieved at any time if needed.
An alarm can be set for the desired minimum room pressure.
DIFFERENTIAL ROOM PRESSURE MONITORING

CHOOSING THE CORRECT DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE ACCESSORIES:
Oberon's carries a complete line of IC Sentinel accessories to aid in monitoring differential pressure. Use the following guide to determine which accessories are required for your installation:
THROUGH WALL KIT - Comes with everything you will need to setup a highly aesthetic means of pressure monitoring between the reference location and the external location. The kit includes a Quick Disconnect Plate to be installed in the reference location, a Room Static Pressure Sensor Plate to be installed in the external location, fire resistant UL Rated Tubing to be installed "in wall" between the two wall plates, Static Pressure Tubing and two (2) Quick Disconnect Fittings to attach the IC Sentinel unit to the wall plates.
QUICK DISCONNECT FITTING - To be used in conjunction with Static Pressure Tubing to connect the IC Sentinel unit to either a Through Wall Kit or a Static Pressure Sensor. The Quick Disconnect Fittings are included with the Through Wall Kit, but are sold separately when being used in conjunction with a Static Pressure Sensor.
ROOM STATIC PRESSURE SENSOR - A decorative wall plate that holds a static pressure fitting (included as part of the Through Wall Kit). To be used to monitor presser differential in the external location when a Quick Disconnect Plate is not required or cannot be installed in the same room containing the IC Sentinel unit. Typically, the Room Static Pressure Sensor will be installed in the external location and tubing will be ran inside the wall up to a suspended ceiling or other location where a Quick Disconnect Plate is not used. Static Pressure Tubing and a Quick Disconnect Fitting are required to connect the Room Static Pressure Sensor to the IC Sentinel unit and are sold separately.
STATIC PRESSURE SENSOR - Provides a less aesthetic means of measuring pressure differential between the reference location and the external location. Available in three (3) different lengths to match various wall thicknesses. A Quick Disconnect Fitting and Static Pressure Tubing (sold separately) are required to connect the Static Pressure Sensor to the IC Sentinel unit.
STATIC PRESSURE TUBING - Included with the Through Wall Kit and ordered separately when using other pressure monitoring kits or when longer lengths are required. Sold by the foot.

Additional Hardware Required:
- Screws - Not included as wall plates can be mounted to many different types of wall surfaces (i.e. drywall, brick, cement board) each requiring different types of mounting hardware.
- Outlet Box - Local codes may require outlet boxes be installed behind wall plates. Check requirements in your area.
- Before cutting or drilling into any wall surfaces, verify that no electrical, plumbing, ventilation, etc. is located where through wall kit is to be installed.
- Check local codes to determine if outlet boxes are required to mount wall plates.
Step 1 - Find a suitable location to place the Through Wall Kit. The room location in the area where the IC Sentinel unit is placed should allow easy access to the Quick Disconnect Plate so that the tubing can be easily attached between the IC Sentinel unit and the Quick Disconnect Plate. In the adjacent room where the pressure differential is to be monitored, find a location where the Room Static Pressure Sensor Plate can be mounted so that it is not obstructed by equipment, furniture, carts, etc.
Step 2 - Once an acceptable location has been identified, cut an approximate 1" diameter hole through both wall layers (use proper equipment for the type wall surface you are cutting through, for example, a spade drill or drywall saw can be used to cut a hole in drywall). The Quick Disconnect Plate should be located in the room in which the IC Sentinel unit is placed. NOTE: Follow safety warning and verify what is behind the wall before cutting (Ref. Figure 1).
Step 3 - Once an opening is cut in wall, attach the 12" UL Rated Tubing to the Quick Disconnect Plate by placing the tubing over the barbed end of the fitting and pressing firmly until the tubing is fully seated. (Ref. Figure 2).
Step 4 - Feed the tubing from the completed Quick Disconnect Plate Assembly through the opening in the wall so that the tubing protrudes completely through the wall on the opposite side. Once the tubing has been fed through the wall, fasten the Wall Plate to the wall using two screws (not supplied) appropriate for the wall type in which the plate is being fastened (Ref. Figure 3).
Step 5 - On the opposite wall, install the Room Static Pressure Sensor Wall Plate by placing the tubing over the barbed end of the fitting and pressing firmly until the tubing is fully seated. Note that excess tubing may be removed prior to installing the Room Static Pressure Sensor Wall Plate. Once the tubing is attached, feed any excess tubing into the wall and attach the wall plate using two screws (not included) appropriate for the wall type in which the plate is being fastened (Ref. Figure 4).
Step 6 - Determine the proper location to place the IC Sentinel unit then connect it to the through wall kit. The through wall kit comes with 12 feet of tubing. Measure the length of tubing required and cut to length. On both ends of the tubing insert a Quick Disconnect Fitting by placing the Static Pressure Tubing over the barbed end of the fitting and pressing firmly until the tubing is fully seated (Ref. Figure 5).
If longer tubing is required, it can be purchased through Oberon, or you may purchase it through any distributor who sells Tygon tubing (tubing size: 1/8" ID - 1/4" OD).
Step 7 - Connect the Static Pressure Tubing between the IC Sentinel Unit and the Quick Disconnect Plate (Ref. Figure 6).
Step 7 - To operate the quick disconnect mechanism, press the flat top lever on the Quick Disconnect Plate until the button on the bottom side of the fitting pops out (Ref. Figure 7). This will lock wall plate's receptacle in the open position and allow insertion of the Quick Disconnect Fitting. Once the Quick Disconnect Fitting has been fully inserted into the wall plate, press the button on the bottom side of the fitting to lock it in place.
